DANCE MYS+ERIES
During the first year, the emerging artists of the U(R)TOPIAS Academy of Choreography discover Elefsina and develop their new choreographic projects in dialogue with the city and its inhabitants. On April 27, 2023, U(R)TOPIAS in collaboration with Aerowaves and 2023 Eleusis - European Capital of Culture presented Dance MyS+eries/Season 1, where the artists of the program showcased their works in progress to the network partners. A small-scale experiential walking performance in a special evening inspired by Elefsina and the Eleusinian Mysteries.
The Mysteries were secret rites and ceremonies dedicated to beatitude and reconciliation with death. Guest visitors become the initiators of a modern ritual that introduces us to the history of Elefsina through dance. 9 presentations are live and 5 in the form of video dance. All, connected by the voice of the guide-host. The works are connected to each other according to their thematic and are presented in different parts of the space following a spiral path from the outside to the center of the X-Bowling Art Center.
OPEN SHARING
On 2 + 3 July 2022, the artists-choreographers of U(R)TOPIAS Academy of Choreography had the opportunity to present their work in progress to the public. The open sharing took place at the X-Bowling Art Center and at the end of each day, a discussion with the audience and creative feedback on each choreographer's work followed.
Focusing on the city of Elefsina, the choreographers' works draw inspiration from the history, heritage and memory of the city, its industrial past, its architectural richness, its sea world, as well as from themes such as the female worker and the environment. The emerging choreographers who participated in the program in its first year are: Eleftheria Agapaki, Katerina Foti, Maria Garephi, Diamanto Hadjizaharia, Christiana Kossiari, Martha Kotsia, Stella Mastorosteriou, Giorgos Papadopoulos, Ivi Riga, Eliane Roumie, Emmanouela Sakellari, Lea Simonsmeier, Eleni Vassilonikolou.
