Eliane Roumie
Eliane Roumie is a half Greek, half Syrian artist born and raised in Athens. She graduated from Royal Holloway University of London (BSc) and Bath University (MSc) on Management and Marketing Practices. She studied contemporary dance techniques in Tanzfabrik Berlin, Dans Centrum Jette Brussels, Professional Dance School Aktina in Athens and Royal Holloway University of London for her Postgraduate Certificate in Physical Theatre for Dancers and Actors in collaboration with Jasmin Vardimon Company. She is intensively practicing Pilates, holding a Comprehensive Teacher Training Certification by the American Academy of Body Arts and Science International (BASI). As a dancer and performer, she has been involved with artistic productions in Belgium, Germany, Cyprus and Greece. Choreographic works of her own have been presented at Festivals such as Young Choreographers Festival - Haut Scene Copenhagen, Αthens Video Dance Project Festival (AVDP), Athens Photo Festival, Open Masterclass led by Marina Abramovic (AS ONE), 9th Young Artists Festival – To Treno sto Rouf, Our Festival 5 and 6, Dance Days Chania 11 and 12th SoloDuo Internationales Tanz Festival Köln. Her latest work ιντεκάλ was performed at the 4th Solo Contemporary Dance Festival Ankara, 13th On_Bodies Dance and performance Arts Festival Cyprus and Solocoreografico – International Solo Dance Festival Frankfurt where she was awarded with the Special Jury Award as an upcoming talent. In parallel to her studies at the Academy of Choreography U(R)TOPIAS, Eliane is also coordinating the High School Theatrical Group and the Middle School Contemporary Dance Group of the Moraitis School of Athens. She continues to dance, create and teach the techniques of contemporary dance, physical theatre and Pilates to students of all ages.
