Nikos Vlasopoulos was born in Athens in 1971. He studied cinema with specialization in directing photography. From 1995-2005 he has worked in several productions in television and cinema. Since 2000 he has been working as a lighting designer for theatre, music, opera and dance performances and has collaborated with the most remarkable and interesting artists, directors and choreographers in Greece. His works have been presented in all the major stages of the country, such as the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, Herodion, National Theatre, Greek National Opera, Onassis Foundation, National Theatre of Northern Greece, Athens Concert Hall, Kakoyannis Foundation, Theatro Technis, Athens Festival, etc. His works have also been presented in various theatres and festivals abroad. Among others: The Public/ New York, Theatre de la Ville/ Paris, Theatre Saint- Gervais/ Geneva, The Place/ London, Biennale de la dance/ Lyon, Hellerau/ Dresden, NRW Tanzhaus/ Düsseldorf, CND/ Paris, Hivernalles/ Avignon, Fondazione Feltrinelli/ Milan, Theater im Pfalzbau/ Ludwigshafen, KLAP maison pour la dance/ Marseille, Ramallah International Dance Festival/ Palestine, Zucker Theater Spectakel/ Zurich, Dublin Dance Festival/ Dublin, Interplay festival/ Turin, CND/ Paris, Euroscene/ Leipzig, Grec Festival/ Barcelona, Aerowaves Spring Forward/ Ljubljana, Mouson/ Frankfurt, Opera of Alexandria and Cairo, etc. At the same time, since 2005, he has been responsible for the design of lighting in various exhibitions and art installations, while he has also designed the architectural lighting of buildings, professional spaces and hotel facilities. He has taught theatrical lighting at the Diving into the unknown seminar (Arc for dance festival), as well as at the Danceschoolways Festival (Duncan Dance Research Center).
