Manolis Manousakis was born in Athens. He studied composition and directing at Columbia College Chicago in Illinois and in 2007 he received a Master's degree in Sound Arts and Technologies from the Department of Music Studies of Ionian University. In 2016, he received a PhD from De Montfort University with his study, "Cross-arts Production Methods Utilizing Collectives." He has been active as a composer and sound designer since 1998. His work includes works for small ensembles, solos, electronic, video and interactive electronic media. He has written music and edited sound for films, interactive installations, theatre performances, documentaries, television series and dance theatre. Since 2009 he has been recording neighborhoods in Athens (Neos Kosmos, Kerameikos, Gazi, Metaxourgeio), but also in the provinces (Selassia Sparta, Kera and Roca Chania, Crete) and abroad (Montreal, Canada and Lebanon), creating soundscapes and interactive sound documentaries. He is a founding member of the artistic group Medea Electronique.
