DIMITRIS BALTAS
Dimitris Baltas is a digital artist, performer & lighting designer. He has studied contemporary dance in various studios in Athens and London. He has also participated in workshops and seminars on acting. In 2014 he started training on aerial acrobatics. In 2023 he presented the interactive mixed reality dance performance Gerridae, at Akropoditi Dance and Performing arts Centre in Syros. In May 2019, he participated at the 1st Summer Circus Cabaret, at Roes Theater with his aerial rope choreography, Working Class. He has presented videos and installations in festivals in Greece and abroad. He has been awarded for the co-creation of the video dance project Please Don’t Tell at the Faggio Doc Festival 2020. He has participated in performances as an actor, dancer, and acrobat. Since 2019 he has been teaching aerial acrobatics in various studios in Athens and in Syros. As a lighting designer, he has designed and curated the lighting for theater, dance performances and art installations. He holds a degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering [AUTh]. Ηis current research, as a PhD Candidate at the University of the Aegean, Products & Systems Design Engineering, is focusing on Interactive Dance Performances, using Mixed Reality. His postgraduate studies include the fields of Interactive Media [University of the Arts, London], Lighting Design [Hellenic Open University] and Digital Arts [Athens School of Fine Arts]. He is a member of the Apparatus group of artists.
